Title: Mental Health and Wellness After-School Program Student Intern
Location: Boys & Girls Clubs of Deep East Texas- Nacogdoches, TX
Site Supervisor: Megan Daniels, LMSW
Compensation: Stipend provided
Placement Summary: We’re looking for positive, motivated interns to join our team for Fall 2025! This hands-on opportunity allows interns to gain experience facilitating group activities for youth of varying ages, focusing on mental health education, coping strategies, emotional self-awareness, and social skill development. Interns will work with Club staff to help foster a safe and supportive learning environment while leading engaging sessions that promote wellness and connection. Stipend will be offered to students selected for placement.
Responsibilities: Assist and lead group-based programming focused on mental health education and awareness, coping strategies, and emotional/social awareness utilizing hands on activities to engage students;
Documentation of group activities to maintain records and track progress;
Participate in trainings, check-in meetings, and any staffing as scheduled;
Travel to participating Boys & Girls Clubs throughout East Texas.
Placement Requirements: Major in social work, psychology, child development, or related field with interest in mental health and youth development with strong organization and communication skills;
Must be willing to submit to and pass a background check if selected.
Work Environment: Recreational, energetic, and youth-centered environment. Travel required. A valid driver’s license is required with the ability to navigate both rural and urban areas using GPS, map, or other directional methods.
Other Requirements: Physical requirements willingness to travel; adequate sight, hearing, and skills required for effective communications as well as an ability to bend, stoop, and use manual dexterity.
