Medical Internship Program

Are you looking to gain medical experience in your gap years between graduating from college and going to medical school or other type of healthcare graduate school? If so, we offer a great opportunity to obtain extensive exposure working with patients in a medical clinic with our paid internship program. The internship is also great experience for your resume and applications for medical or healthcare graduate school.

 

In our internship program, the interns assist Dr. McHenry in his everyday tasks such as patient documentation, patient relations, testing coordination, patient testing, and scribing. The internship calls for the applicant to be flexible and willing to learn many different aspects of our clinic.

 

This program is designed for students who have graduated and can work full-time and will have at least one gap year.

 

Responsibilities include:

- Ensuring accuracy of chart notes and verbatim transcription of encounters

- Ensuring confidentiality and ease of transition from patient to patient

- Coordinating with assigned technicians and medical records personnel to assist the physician in maintaining scheduled appointments

- Listening thoroughly and attentively throughout patient encounters

- Ensuring use of appropriate medical terminology in charting/scribing

- Ensuring quality of chart notes and coding

- Interacting with patients during their visit to ensure timely and courteous office visits

- Work personally with the physician in order to ensure the highest clinic efficiency

- Manage different tasks under the direction of Dr. McHenry

Requirements:

- Experience in using and understanding medical terminology preferred

- Patient interface experience in clinical setting

- Ability to carry out multiple tasks throughout the day

- Computer experience with EMR systems preferred

- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and other insurance protocols preferred

 

We have two locations: operating twice a week in Grand Prairie and three times a week in Dallas. Travel to both locations will be required.

 

Applicants with a premedical background who will either be in the process of applying to medical school or who will be applying to medical school in the near future are preferred but we welcome anyone seeking experience in the healthcare profession.
