Intern - Transmission Planning and Studies Engineer

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

 

JOB TITLE: Intern – Transmission Planning and Studies Engineer

REQUISITION:  STR002N

DEPARTMENT: Transmission Planning – 801 Charlotte 

LOCATION: Kansas City, MO

PAY RANGE: $23.00 - $28.00 / Hour

 

Internship Position for Summer 2026.

 

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm

Intern Description:

The utility industry is changing. To be prepared for these changes, it is imperative that the electrical transmission and distribution systems are planned accordingly. Evergy’s Long Term Transmission Planning organization is seeking an intern to help its special studies team.

 

Job tasks include but not limited to:

  • Steady state power flow analysis to assist various transmission system studies
  • Gathering and analyzing data in support of Evergy’s transmission assessments

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Pursuit of a bachelor's degree (minimum) in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or computer). 
  • Must possess intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Display initiative and self-reliance with the ability to self-prioritize multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining high-quality performance.

 

Working Conditions:

Normal Office Working Conditions.
