Public Safety Office Sexual Assault Survivors Intern Job Description

Our program is made up of the most passionate and driven students and recent graduates who are eager to make their mark on state government in Texas. INTERN DUTIES

The intern supports ongoing activities of both the Sexual Assault Survivors' Task Force and the Child Sex Trafficking Team (CSTT). Key projects during the internship include maintenance of an online resource database of service providers, conducting research on service provision, attending and providing support during working group meetings, and updating a compendium of research articles. Other general duties may include Conducting open-source research and drafting internal memos, analyzing laws and policies, analyzing grant performance metrics, formatting presentations and other materials; compiling minutes/notes from meeting and attending trainings.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Proficient research, writing and communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy - proofreading skills are a plus; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; critical thinking and the skill in the use of basic office equipment and software, including the ability to create charts, graphs and tables using Microsoft products.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated interest in the issues of sexual violence and/or human trafficking; prior experience documenting and tracking the activities of a team or workgroup.

Intern supervisors will be providing feedback to interns on a consistent basis to ensure the intern has a successful internship.

The internship is a volunteer position and is NOT paid.

Positions are typically 15-20 hours per week (8 a.m. - 12 Noon or 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.)
