POSITION: Secondary Academics Intern

 REPORTS TO: Secondary Content Specialist – English 

  POSITION TYPE: Internship 

  DATES: June 2nd - July 31st, approximately 20 hours per week 

  COMPENSATION: $15/hour

THE OPPORTUNITY

YES Prep needs a dynamic Secondary Literacy Intern with a robust set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships.  

 To put it simply, you will ensure that campuses are ready for incoming YES Prep students by testing students, gathering data, and organizing important academic materials this summer.  

 

THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include: 

Responsibilities 

Participating in training for administration and scoring of R-CBM Benchmarks; 

Administering R-CBM Benchmarks to new students at assigned YES Campus(es); 

Entering data in Excel and/or other platforms, as needed; 

Filing important language proficiency documentation; 

Preparing instructional materials for the 25-26 school year; 

Supporting the Home Office Academics team and campus academics team with tasks as assigned;  

Additional duties as assigned.

Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, local board policies, administrative guidelines, and the Texas Educators’ Code of Ethics; 

Serve as appropriate role model for YES Prep colleagues, students, staff, and parents; 

Conduct self in a professional manner at all times; 

Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice, with little to no direction; 

Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with all stakeholders, including incoming YES Prep families

THE MUST HAVES 

High School Diploma 

Have flexible transportation to and from assigned YES Prep Campus(es). This is project-based work, so the length of the workday will vary based on the size and need of the campus. 

Be available for in-person training and literacy testing the week of June 2 – June 6 (hours that week will be slightly longer)  

Microsoft Outlook and Excel proficient 

Attention to detail 

Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
