Nursing Candidate Needed

The Navy Nurse Candidate Program (NCP) offers aspiring nurses a unique pathway to both serve their country and advance their nursing careers. This highly selective program provides financial assistance and valuable professional development opportunities to qualified nursing students.

Here's a detailed description of the Navy Nurse Candidate Program:

Overview:

The Navy Nurse Candidate Program (NCP) is designed for undergraduate nursing students who aspire to become commissioned officers in the United States Navy's Nurse Corps. It provides financial assistance to students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at an accredited (ACEN/CCNE) college or university.

Financial Support:

Participants in the NCP receive a $20K signing bonus upon selection to the program. Additionally, you will receive a $1000 per month stipend to help with living expenses, cover tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses related to their nursing education.

Active-Duty Commitment:

Upon graduation and successful completion of the NCLEX-RN examination, participants in the NCP are commissioned as Ensigns in the United States Navy Nurse Corps. They are then required to serve a minimum of five years on active duty.

Professional Development:

While in the program, participants gain valuable hands-on experience through summer training sessions at Navy medical facilities. This provides them with exposure to the unique challenges and opportunities of military nursing.

Career Advancement:

Upon completion of their active-duty commitment, nurses have the option to continue serving in the Navy Nurse Corps or transition to civilian nursing practice. Those who choose to remain in the Navy can pursue advanced degrees and certifications, opening up opportunities for leadership roles within the Nurse Corps.

Benefits:

In addition to financial support for education and training, participants in the NCP receive competitive salary and benefits packages, including health care coverage, retirement benefits, and access to on-base amenities.  Career support programs such as Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP) also become available.  HPLRP will cover up to $40,000 in student debt, per program year!

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Navy Nurse Candidate Program, applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ACEN/CCNE) leading to a BSN degree.  BSN students must be within 24 months of graduating and have six months or greater remaining in their program.  They must also meet certain academic and physical fitness requirements and be willing to commit to serving on active duty upon graduation.

How to Apply:

Interested individuals can apply for the Navy Nurse Candidate Program through Handshake. The application process typically includes submission of academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement.
