Compliance Specialist

Summary The Compliance Specialist will provide assistance to the Director of Compliance with the implementation of CICOA’s Corporate Compliance Plan. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. • Perform research and data gathering. • Monitor, analyze and report changes in legislation and regulatory requirements, and assist with identifying implications for the agency, including making recommendations for policy and procedure revisions necessary to ensure compliance. • Triage incident reports and discovery forms, prepare documentation and schedule interviews. • Assist with compliance and HIPAA investigations. • Review, triage, and route compliance team emails to the appropriate team member. • Review Q&A documents on Connect for new questions and routes to the appropriate team member for response. • Assist with the administration, development and execution of staff compliance and HIPAA training and remediation. • Process client record requests. • Assist with drafting, reviewing and revising policies, procedures and documents as needed. • Run monthly reports, analyze report data, and communicate information to the appropriate interdepartmental staff. • Assist with the contract lifecycle management process, as needed. • Travel locally as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Supervisory Responsibility No supervisor responsibility.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree in any field from accredited college or university, healthcare certification in privacy or compliance or equivalent combination of compliance and HIPAA education and experience. Familiarity with healthcare regulatory guidelines related to fraud, waste, abuse, and HIPAA is required. Critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to read, interpret, and apply related compliance and HIPAA regulations is required. Experience with the client population served is preferred. Experience with corporate healthcare compliance preferred.
